Community Impact: Mentorship with Jonathan

Since 2021, Citadel and Citadel Securities have partnered with Thrive Scholars to expand access to high-quality education by connecting high-achieving students from under-resourced backgrounds with intensive academic and career programming.

 
Jonathan, a Senior Software Engineer at Citadel Securities, has gone above and beyond to support Thrive students —serving as a mentor, facilitating technical workshops and participating in panel discussions and networking events with Thrive Scholars over the past two years.

In his mentorship role, Jonathan meets regularly with his mentees to help them navigate their collegiate academic experience and prepare for internship and career opportunities.

“As a first-generation student who had to teach myself the college and career-exploration processes, I understand many of the challenges these talented students may face,” says Jonathan. “My goal is to help my mentees achieve their potential by humanizing the experience and supporting them through what can be an overwhelming journey.”

Jonathan’s commitment to mentorship and engagement with Thrive Scholars benefits the students and amplifies his impact at Citadel Securities. He says the insights gained from Thrive students better equip him for interviews with recent graduates and ultimately help him recruit extraordinary talent for roles on his team.
